Meet Our Coaches

Scott Schulte

Executive Director

Scott Schulte is the Executive Director of CT Premier Water Polo Club and Head Coach of the NYAC Men’s team. A Hall of Fame inductee at multiple institutions, Scott starred as an All-American at Montclair Kimberly Academy and Bucknell University, where he set NCAA scoring records that still stand. He was a member of the USA Water Polo Junior and Senior National Teams, winning silver at the 1981 World University Games and competing in nine U.S. Olympic Festivals. As NYAC Men’s Head Coach for over 20 years, Scott’s teams have earned 14 Senior National Championships, and he’s mentored Olympians such as Tony Azevedo, Wolf Wigo and Adam Wright. Outside the pool, Scott has over 35 years of experience in finance and leads MFS Capital Advisors. He lives in New Canaan, CT, and is passionate about developing the next generation of East Coast water polo talent.


Valentin Horvath

Travel Program Director & Head Coach, 14U Boys

Valentin Horvath serves as Junior Director at CT Premier, overseeing the Travel Program for athletes ages 8–14 and leading the 14U Boys team. Valentin began playing water polo at age 10 for Ferencvárosi TC in Budapest, one of Hungary’s top clubs. Moving to the U.S., he played Division I water polo at St. Francis College (NY), captaining the Terriers to two NCAA semi-final appearances. Valentin has coached youth water polo in New York City and is dedicated to instilling responsibility, teamwork, and strong fundamentals in his players at CT Premier.

Gabe Maldonado

Head Coach, High School Boys, Girls, Goalies

Coach Gabe Maldonado brings nearly a decade of coaching and refereeing experience to CT Premier, joining us from Greenwich Aquatics. Gabe is a Northeast Zone ODP coach and an internationally certified FINA referee, with a proven track record of developing athletes who advance to Division I and the U.S. National Team. He has received several USA Water Polo awards for coaching and refereeing excellence and is a certified sports psychologist, offering expertise in athlete development and mental performance. At CT Premier, Gabe leads the Girls Teams and High School Boys and oversees goalie training, focusing on both skill and team culture.

Dawson Clark

Assistant Coach 12U Boys, 14U Boys, 14U Girls; Coach, Splashball & House League

Coach Dawson Clark serves as Assistant Coach for the 14U Girls and Boys teams and supports the 12U groups. Originally from Greenwich, CT, Dawson competed for Greenwich Aquatics and Greenwich High School, and for the Northeast Zone ODP, before playing at Michigan State University. With five years of coaching experience, including at Greenwich Country Club and with CT Premier, Dawson is committed to developing young athletes’ skills, discipline, and competitive spirit. He excels at fostering growth and teamwork, helping players reach their potential both in and out of the pool.


Johnny Dunn

Head Coach 12U Boys; Assistant Coach 14U Girls; Coach Splashball & House League

Coach Johnny Dunn leads the 12U Boys Team at CT Premier, bringing over a decade of Northeast Zone water polo experience. Starting at age 7, Johnny played for The Lake Club, Chelsea Piers, and was a founding member of the CT Premier 18U team. He began coaching at CT Premier after high school and also coaches with The Lake Club in Wilton, CT. Now in his third year with the club, Johnny is known for his dedication, energy, and passion for developing young athletes and helping them excel at the Junior Olympics and beyond.

Meigan Loomis

Social Media & Coach

Meigan Loomis manages social media for CT Premier and is an accomplished coach, having led our 12U Boys from a 48th seed to a 5th place finish at the 2023 Junior Olympics Classic Division. Meigan began playing water polo at 10, competing for Ellis Aquatics, 680 Drivers, and Lamorinda, earning 1st Team All-League honors in high school. She played club water polo at Arizona State University and previously coached at Mountain House HS in California. Outside of coaching, Meigan works in technology sales and enjoys floral arranging, reading, and traveling.


Chelsea Piers Connecticut

All practices, clinics, and most home games are held at Chelsea Piers Connecticut, a premier sports complex conveniently located just off I-95 in Stamford, CT. Our athletes train in a 50-meter Olympic pool and have access to amenities like a poolside hot tub and an infrared sauna recovery center.

Chelsea Piers is designed with families in mind, offering free WiFi, dining options, and a variety of high-end fitness and recreational activities for all ages. With its easy access from Connecticut, Westchester County, and Manhattan, Chelsea Piers provides a welcoming environment for both athletes and their families.
